鳩聾皇帝Kowloon Emperor

鳩聾皇帝，是取自九龍皇帝（曾灶財）。對於我來說，他是一個悲劇人物。爸爸從小就嘲諷想做藝術的我：「你有冇睇過九龍皇帝？佢啲藝術係死咗之後先值錢，你係咪想咁樣？」

九龍皇帝生前並未受到認可，他的作品甚至被視為塗鴉。直到他去世後，他的作品才開始受到重視，並被視為具有重要的藝術價值。

九龍皇帝的悲劇人生讓我深受感觸。他一生都致力於追求自己的藝術理想，卻始終不被世人認可。這讓我思考，藝術的價值究竟是什麼？是生前的認可，還是死後的價值？

藝術探索

鳩聾皇帝與九龍皇帝不同的是，鳩聾皇帝的作品主要以水墨為媒介。鳩聾皇帝一直在探索水墨的可能性，希望能創作出既有傳統美感又有創新精神的作品。

水墨是一種古老的中國繪畫技法，具有悠久的歷史和豐富的表現力。然而，在現代社會，水墨往往被視為一種過時的藝術形式。鳩聾皇帝希望通過作品，能夠讓更多人看到水墨的魅力，並重新認識水墨的價值。

My “Kowloon Emperor” series is deeply inspired by the life and works of Tsang Tsou-choi, also known as the Kowloon Emperor. Tsang Tsou-choi was a Hong Kong artist who spent his life creating murals throughout Hong Kong. His works were known for their vibrant colors and unique calligraphy. However, Tsang Tsou-choi was not recognized during his lifetime, and his works were even considered graffiti. It was only after his death that his works began to gain recognition and were valued for their significant artistic merit.

Tsang Tsou-choi’s tragic life resonated deeply with me. He dedicated his entire life to pursuing his artistic ideals, yet he was never acknowledged by the world. This made me ponder, what is the true value of art? Is it the recognition received during one’s lifetime, or the value it holds after death?

Artistic Exploration

Unlike Tsang Tsou-choi, my works primarily utilize ink wash painting as the medium. I have been continuously exploring the possibilities of ink wash painting, hoping to create works that embody both traditional aesthetics and innovative spirit.

Ink wash painting is an ancient Chinese painting technique with a rich history and expressive power. However, in modern society, ink wash painting is often perceived as an outdated art form. Through my works, I hope to bring to light the charm of ink wash painting and encourage a renewed appreciation for its value.
